One thing I’ve always loved about interior design is its ability to affect your mood. Things like materials, lighting, and colors evoke something in your body. It’s so much more than just throwing together selections that look good together - there is thought behind the people using the space and how they want to feel in it. I’ve always wanted to be in a career that improves lives, but I’ve also wanted to be in a career that revolves around art and creativity. Being in interior design, I feel like I marry the two.

I also love that you get to build an environment that mimics real people. Being in residential design these past two years, I’ve gotten to meet many different people and have translated their personalities and their habits into a space that is made for them. I always want to make sure I can look back at a project and see that person. I want their space to truly feel like their home.

Most of all, I love to be a part of a team. Don’t get me wrong - I love some time to myself where I can get lost in drawings or putting together finishes. Having times of individual growth is definitely important. But I value the new perspectives, ideas, and tips I learn when working in a team. I think we get to the best design by collaborating and it’s important to me that I am working with a team that values that collaboration as well.

I love interior design, and I hope I never stop growing within it.
